Atari Lovefest Part 1

Atari Lovefest Part 1

Although I have gamed on earlier machines (yes, I’m old), the computer I first invested a lot of my time in was an Atari 520 STE. Some friends had an Amiga which I also played on, there are no fangirl issues here! Over a few blog posts I plan to big-up, immortalise and possibly cringe over some of the titles that I revelled in as a child. Some have gone on to become classics with HD remakes and others? Others not so much.

24 Hours Of Gaming For Special Effect

24 Hours Of Gaming For Special Effect

In October 2010 I played Halo Reach for 24 hours to raise money for Special Effect, an amazing charity that helps make gaming accessible to people with disabilities. Thanks to the extremely kind donations from friends, family and strangers, I raised £600 which helped Special Effect build a loan library of modified controllers. This year I’d like to do it all over again and see if we can rustle up some more pennies for all the good work they do.

90s Nostalgia: 1992/1993

Blog Revamp!

Blog Revamp!

The past few weeks I have spent whole hours revamping my personal blog and here, finally, is the fruit of my labour! Somewhere simple, but shiny, to put my little ramblings, blogs, videos and other random links on gaming, films etc. The name ‘Startled the Witch’ is a big nod to one of my favourite games, Left 4 Dead.

90s Nostalgia: 1990/1991

90s Nostalgia: 1990/1991

After spending this morning enjoying some Bobby Brown (none of us are perfect) it lubed up a slippery slope into 90s pop. Although I was born in 1981 and fondly remember many 80s hits, the era of my youth was the 90s. At the time I found it hard to believe anyone could look back on the decade with nostalgia because the music, the films, the fashion all seemed ‘normal’. We didn’t seem to have anything weird that would stand out to future generations as decade-defining.
