Pwning Pr0nography

Pwning Pr0nography

Sex is no stranger to games. I hear tales from friends about bedding characters in Mass Effect or Dragon Age: Origins and I remember once or twice getting some action in The Sims.  Sex and nudity will always be a part of games whether people consider it suitable or not, just like it appears in movies, television and novels.

With A Little Help From My Wingman

With A Little Help From My Wingman

Energon-this. Energon-that. Those Decepticons don’t talk about anything else. If only one enterprising Transformer would start the Scottish and Southern Energon company and distribute the energy efficiently it would save all these frantic battles and the lives of countless unnamed, unappreciated robot soldiers. No, I haven’t decided to become an alien peacekeeper. I simply chose to purchase a game that is outside of my comfort zone; something I wouldn’t even normally register was on the shelves. My impulse buy of choice was Transformers: War For Cybertron. I won’t review it, I know it’s not aimed at me as I seem to be spending half the time wondering if there’s cute little baby Transformers hidden away or a planet full of lilac glittery fembots awaiting the day their menfolk return. I do, however, usually think it’s good to broaden your horizons and a little variety is always a postitive thing.

iLust After Something New

iLust After Something New

I’m in love. I am in love with my Xbox 360. We’ve grown extremely close these past two years and I like to think he’s as fond of me as I am of him. He’s dependable, always there when I need him and we cozy up for long fun-filled nights together. We’re pretty much inseparable but there are times when things feel a little stale. I try to shake things up with a new title or we’ll download a film and he’ll purr softly at me as I lie on the sofa. My eyes wander though. To the sleekness of a Playstation 3 or the wacky but eventually irritating Wii. I’d resisted so far and am proud of my monogamy, however, last week something new entered my life. He’s fresh, exciting and I’ve spent many enjoyable hours gently caressing his smooth front and discovering how to push all the right buttons. We can even go out and about instead of all the usual homely nights in. I have finally joined the herd and submitted to my desires for an iPhone.

What A Wonderful World

What A Wonderful World

The passing years have provided me with a growing problem when gaming. In days of yore I’d get my game face on, knew what I had to do and get cracking. The plan was easy – complete the task at hand so I’d be on my merry way, eating mushrooms or shooting invaders from space. They were simple times with equally simple graphics.

Nowadays game graphics are vastly more realistic, visually stunning and often take my breath away. Although I don’t care to start the old debate of “can games be art?”, to me personally, they are, without a shadow of doubt. The trouble is they’re starting to throw me off and affect my game.

Splinter Sells Confliction

Patience is not my middle name. I am usually the gaming equivalent of a bull in a china shop. If one of the group gets into trouble in the distance during Left 4 Dead there’s a good chance it’s me chasing Smokers. Most of my deaths in Call of Duty can be attributed to charging straight into the enemy’s crosshairs. It’s the reason I choose warrior classes and picked the Berserker in Borderlands.

Innocence Lost

Innocence Lost

After seeing the reaction to my ’Let The Bodies Hit The Floor’ article (originally published on GamingLives.com) I am now slightly concerned about how I may be coming across to friends, family and anyone else who may lurk on this fine site. I want to take a few moments from your day to try and persuade you that I’m honestly not a psychopathic loon on the verge of committing The Great Westcountry Massacre of 2010. Away from games I like to think I’m a fairly docile, friendly person. I like to keep up with the latest lolcats. In Springtime I pass by the stream everyday to check for ducklings. Sometimes I even indulge in a spot of baking – some flapjacks or banana bread. I promise I’m not the monster I may have painted myself. In order to reflect this I would like to mention a couple of the sweeter, less gory and twisted games I enjoy playing from time to time.
