My Alternative Gaming Awards 2011

My Alternative Gaming Awards 2011

It’s that time of year where magazines/podcasts/websites all start handing out awards for GOTY, best multiplayer, etc etc. That’s a bit boring so I’m going to do my alternative gaming awards. I may miss out some obvious contenders but can only include games I’ve actually played this year. Now on with the show, drum-roll please!

Skyrim Addiction

Skyrim Addiction

Skyrim. For the majority of gamers that word will elicit one of two reactions. Either you will roll your eyes and let out an irritated sigh or you’ll immediately go dewy-eyed and recall the epic fight you had last night with a giant, two woolly mammoths and a mage while out picking mountain flowers. I have never experienced anything like this before and don’t feel I have given it the blog-love it deserves. You know you’ve been playing too much Skyrim when…

  • You wish you could try horker stew or mammoth steak for dinner
  • You turn down a lift to work because you may miss something exciting if you don’t walk
  • You ask your waiter if he’s heard any rumours
  • You start thinking in a bad Arnold Schwarzenegger accent
  • Simple utensils are now dubbed the Spoon of Destruction or Cheese Grater of Invincibility

Now Listening 17/11/2011

This week my life has mostly consisted of playing Skyrim. The only other thing I’ve done is get out for walks to remember there’s a real world out there… or is Skyrim the real world?… Anyway, these have been caressing my ears as I stomp around Bournemouth, like an Elf on a stamina potion.
