Response To: Video games have a diversity problem that runs deeper than race or gender

I read an article in the Guardian that was doing the rounds on Twitter today which you can read here – “Video games have a diversity problem that runs deeper than race or gender“, and was over the moon. It completely hit the nail on the head. My response falls under ‘too long to tweet’ and ‘maybe too short to blog’ as it’s pretty much total agreement with the author.

Boscombe The RPG Preview

Boscombe The RPG Preview

I live in a town with a dodgy reputation and have half-joked in the past that a Grand Theft Auto: Boscombe should exist. A controversially large number of rehabilitation centres and lower rent in comparison to other parts of Bournemouth means an unusually high amount of colourful characters walk these streets. One of the search results took me down a black hole of archived Geocities pages, or ‘Homesteads’ as they used to be called. I tried to find some of my own personal late-90s Geocities sites without much luck but I can assure you that I was the go-to spot on the internet if you fancied browsing a midi-filled fansite for The Lost Boys or Adam Garcia. I snapped some screenshots of these now retro Geocities nuggets lest they be lost forever. Welcome to the Internet circa 1996.
